The Hyundai Metaplant America facility at Ellabell has been running production since March 2025. The plant and its LG battery joint venture together represent approximately $7.59 billion in investment, and the site is still in active expansion — supplier park development is continuing along the I-16 corridor around Ellabell. That concentration of heavy manufacturing and logistics activity means the Ellabell-to-Pembroke stretch of I-16 is the highest-density job site zone in the county, and scheduling around it requires lead time. A $468.35 million highway widening covering 17.77 miles of I-16 between I-95 and SR 67 is awarded and anticipated to begin construction in 2027, which will add a sustained equipment and haul-truck fuel load to the same corridor for several years. Richmond Hill is also one of the faster-growing communities on the Georgia coast, and residential and commercial site work there runs consistently enough that fleet accounts in that part of the county benefit from weekly scheduled drops rather than call-in replenishment.
